BroDynamics is an easy to use but powerful tool that allows animators to save time, make animations faster and make them look more natural, by enabling animators to spend less time on more mechanical aspects of animation and to focus more on the artistic side of things. It’s proven, battle-tested and actively supported and developed. Here’s what it can do:

  • Add overlap and overshoot using a large selection of physics solvers
  • Simulate tails, hair, antennae, ears, muscle/fat jiggle and more (chains or single objects) with collisions and forces
  • Throwing and dropping objects
  • Add spring-dynamics to any numeric Maya attribute (including, but not limited to – scale, light intensity, etc)
  • Add Noise to any numeric attribute (can be used to generate breathing animations, wind animations, or add mild random motion to any animation to make it look more natural)
  • Works with (almost) any rig! (And if it does not – let me know, I’ll do my best to figure out if it can be supported as well)

BroDynamics has a large selection of solvers to simulate physics with:

  • BroDynamics Solver (new!)
  • nHair
  • nParticle
  • Bullet
  • SpringMagic-like solver

BroDynamics Solver also comes with physics nodes that support realtime simulation, which can be embedded into rigs or used to create more complex custom simulation setups (This feature is actively being developed).

It also can greatly save time for Riggers and Technical Animators – as they don’t have to embed any complex and heavy physics simulation systems into their rigs. It also means that rigs will be lighter and more comfortable to work with and maintain.

This tool is perfect for gamedev, where you need to create a lot of animations in a limited amount of time, and where there is often no time or necessity to create complex rigs. But it can also find its use in any other animation environment, like movies, cartoons, and other media, because of how easy it is to use.
