BroDynamics
What is it?
BroDynamics is a simulation multi-tool that allows an animator to simulate: overlap, overshoot, secondary motion, physics interaction, springs or noise in just a few clicks and without expert technical knowledge.
Here’s an overview of what it offers, and what makes it stand out.
Easy to learn, with extra features to master
The basics are extremely simple – just select objects and click a button. But if you dive deeper you can find a lot of flexibility and a lot of settings you can tweak and adjust to get just the right kind of motion.
It takes just a few clicks – select the objects you wish to simulate, select the simulation mode and parameters and click “Simulate” button.
For example. Let’s take these 4 cylinders. Add just a few key poses to them and see what BroDynamics’ Chain mode can do for us:
Works with any rig
It can work with any selection of transforms – IK or FK controls, joints, geometry. If it has a transform – it can be animated with BroDynamics.
Variety of simulation modes
BroDynamics offers different simulation modes for different purposes.
- Single object springs
- FK-Chain simulations (tails, ears, antennas)
- Attribute-spring (springy motion on any attribute curve)
- Procedural Noise

Variety of physics backends
Unlike most other simulation tools that offer only one kind of simulation algorithm, BroDynamics has them all:
- Custom Physics Engine written from scratch
- nHair
- nParticle
- SpringMagic-like algorithm
- Bullet
Cycling\Looping animations
Almost every mode supports seamless animation looping\cycling.
If you don’t like the result – tweak parameters and hit Simulate again.
That’s the whole workflow, on the surface. But there’s a lot more!
Tailored towards production workflows
BroDynamics has been around for close to 10 years, and over time it became aware of the ways people use it, and the needs of both individual animators and large productions. It offers features like:
- Layer support – bake simulations to layers (selected or new), re-simulate last layer
- Batch Simulation – simulate multiple different objects in one go
- Storing data in the Rig Scene, so animators can use the same simulation preset on the character
- Saving and Loading data from config files, so it can be shared
- Centralized network installation options for enterprise environments (both licensing and installation process)
